With the First Team without a fixture this weekend and the Reserves’ match postponed due to a frozen pitch, attention turned to Lindfield FC III as they travelled to Ringmer’s 3G stadium.
First Half
Lindfield struggled to find rhythm in the early stages, with the formation not quite settling and several loose moments at the back giving Ringmer encouragement. The hosts capitalised, and Jack Craig scored twice in the 10th and 22nd minute to give Ringmer a 2–0 advantage.
Ringmer then added a third when Kamil Filipczak struck from outside the box into the bottom-left corner.
However, Lindfield responded well before the break. In the 40th minute, Grant Reed reacted sharply to a defensive mistake in the Ringmer back line and finished calmly to reduce the deficit, sending the visitors into half-time trailing 3–1.
Second Half
Manager Reece Gregson made his feelings clear during the interval with a firm but honest team talk and the reaction was immediate. Lindfield switched formation and came out with renewed intensity, playing with far greater organisation and confidence.
The pressure paid off in the 55th minute, when Wojciech Kosobucki delivered a cross from wide which curved goalwards, clipping the far top corner as the Ringmer goalkeeper was caught out under the floodlights bringing the score back to 3–2.
From that point on, Lindfield enjoyed the better of the half, pressing high, winning second balls and creating a number of shooting opportunities. Despite sustained pressure and a much-improved performance, the equaliser proved elusive and Ringmer held on for the win.
Full-Time: Ringmer AFC IV 3–2 Lindfield FC III
Although the result went against Lindfield, there were clear positives to take, particularly from a committed and dominant second-half display which showed character, work-rate and togetherness across the squad.
The group now looks ahead to the next fixture with confidence and belief built from the response shown after the break.
