Lindfield made the journey to Reigate and came away with an emphatic 5–1 win, recovering from a nightmare start to produce a powerful, composed display on the road.
First Half: Early Shock, Measured Recovery
The hosts caught Lindfield cold, scoring within the opening minute to take an unexpected lead. For a spell, Reigate had the better of the early exchanges, but Lindfield slowly began to settle and grow into the game.
The equaliser came courtesy of Alexander Ternouth, who produced a thunderbolt header at the near post that flew into the far corner — a goal of real quality that lifted the visitors.
From there, Lindfield began to control possession, moving the ball with increasing confidence and intent.
Second Half: Lindfield Turn the Screw
The second half was all Lindfield. Andrew Brown struck early after the restart — ghosting into space from the number 10 position and finishing neatly past the keeper to make it 2–1. From that moment on, Lindfield looked rampant.
Stuart Brown then took centre stage, notching twice. His first came from a brilliant team move: Rob Ternouth launched a pinpoint long ball to Louis Pople, who selflessly squared it for Stuart to tap home. His second arrived later in the half — another tidy finish that extended the lead to 4–1.
The scoring was rounded off in style when Jordan Walsh powered in a thumping header for Lindfield’s fifth, capping a superb all-round team performance.
Sin Bin Comedy
There was a lighter moment too, when Matthew Jasper found himself sin-binned after being, in his own words, “wildly rude” — though entirely jokingly — toward the referee. It didn’t affect Lindfield’s flow, but certainly provided a laugh for those watching on.
Andrew Brown – Energetic, creative, and clinical. Scored a fine goal and drove the team forward all game.
