The hosts struck first midway through the first half, a powerful strike from outside the box finding the net to put Polegate in front. But the setback only fired the Swans into action.

Arron Walsh levelled the score with a superb volley, showing great technique to smash home and restore belief. The turnaround was complete before the break when Jordan Peskett climbed highest to head in, giving Lindfield a 2–1 advantage at half-time.

The second half saw both sides create chances, but Lindfield’s defensive organisation and work-rate ensured the hosts couldn’t find another way through. The Swans held firm until the final whistle, securing all three points and starting their campaign with exactly the response they wanted.
